FUSILLADE Here it is. My
reputation maker. FUSILLADE, A Treatise on the Multiple Selection Routine.
This collaborative effort fully describes both of our approaches to a card
magic routine in which anywhere from eight to twenty-five (or more!)
spectators choose cards that are then entertainingly revealed by the
performer. The name Fusillade means series of shots fired in quick succession.
The extremely talented Paul Cummins is one of the rare breed of performers who
are entertaining AND have some serious chops. I am proud to say we have been
friends for years. His approach to the multiple selection is significantly
different than mine so we have agreed to collaborate on this venture. Paul and
I are proud to release this new book entitled FUSILLADE, which means a number
of shots fired in quick succession.
Paul and I have figured out that almost 50 years has been spent on this trick,
performing, developing, and honing this routine in each of our performing
venues. So there's a lot of experience packed into this 90-page booklet.
*Paul's section of the booklet features descriptions of over 25 card
discoveries that he uses to produce the spectator's selections.
*My section of the booklet features my PMS Control, a simple-to-do, efficient
method of having multiple selections made and controlled; my revelations of
the cards, and - most important, in my book - my work on the memorization of
all the spectator's names. *The third section of the book is what might be
considered the real work on the routine. Paul and I uncover the tips we have
learned and used over thousands and thousands of performances: Outs,
Opportunities, and Challenges. Finally, there is an extensive Appendix of
references and credits; and another Appendix that lists further reading on the
subject of Multiple Selection Routines.
The booklet has 90 (8.5 X 11) pages, there are 56 digital photographs to
accompany and enhance the text, and the booklet has been carefully edited by
both Richard Parker and Jason England. Doc and I both still perform our
routines on an almost daily basis. We are very proud of this material:
Audiences love it and they talk about it. If you have ever thought about doing
a multiple selection routine- now's your chance.
This book will be available exclusively through our websites and lectures.

Shot in the Act: Notes from the Working Repertoire These
have recently been reprinted and updated. The explanation of the Three Card
Monte routine has been greatly expanded and illustrated. I have also added a
section on one of my pet routines, the Two Card Transposition which i use
every time i perform. Still only $10. Here are some of my pet routines. No
"pipe dreams" here, these are tricks that I make my living with. The Color
Changing Deck and the Three Card Monte routines alone are worth the price of
the book. This booklet also includes thoughts on style and the use of
giveaways with a wonderful trick for special occasions like a birthday or an
anniversary. There are also some valuable thoughts on the business of magic.
This new reprint is a mixture of theory and tricks and contains something
for everyone, from the seasoned pro to the restaurant worker to the
beginner. Back

7 Secrets I know this isn't
new but it has been out of stock and ...i just got a restock of this book
and I re read it. Boy is this a great little book. There are two items in
there that I do every day! Plus his torn and restored card, a trick with
Glorpy that kills (I know, I used to do it... ! I think I have to dig that
old thing out of the junk drawer.) The charisma switch is a gem of a quickie
just walking along the bar. This is a great little book and the "trick per
dollar" ratio is very high....good investment.
Aces in your Faces Another product that
has been out of production for a while... Aces in your Faces by Bob
Kohler. This is one of the most diabolical secrets in card magic. Bob
kept this to himself and a small circle of friends for years, all the
while performing at countless trade shows and perfecting the handling.
This is moveless magic at its best. The performer barely handles the
cards and yet the aces assemble. Even more astounding is the fact that
someone from the audience decides the final outcome after the cards
are already in position! Hard to believe but this routine is
entirely self working and resets instantly. This utilizes Burling
Hull's gimmick called the Ghost Card. Both the experienced sleight of
hand artist and the newcomer will instantly be able to perform "Aces
in your Faces" and will rejoice in the clean "shows" of the backs of
four cards and four faces simultaneously. Once you have mastered the
basic routine, Bob goes on to teach you the next level. This twists
your audience's mind into even more intense, contortions. This is an
equivoque that is completely diabolical, so that no matter what the
spectator says, you have your bases covered. Wonderful.
Bill Goldman's Magic Bar & Grill The Bar and Grill series is one of
the best-kept secrets in magic. You always get at least one idea that is
worth several times the asking price. The Bar and Grills are
thought-provoking, funny and always diabolical. They feature effects,
essays, philosophies and anecdotes. The effects in this series get great
reactions without difficult sleight of hand. High-Impact, Low-Maintenance

Bill Goldman's Bar and Grill #7
For those of you who
have been following our hero's exploits, here is the latest installment.
Bill Goldman is one of my favorite magicians. His wacky approach to magical
effects is always refreshing. This little tome has a great routine for
bending a coin, a card trick with a "psychic feel", a bizarre Goldman
twisted book test and a very practical use of a dove pan... yes a dove pan!
For those of you who have the first 6 issues of these, you will want to
continue. For those of you who are not familiar with the great material
contained here, it is great material that is not difficult to perform.

Bill Goldman's Bar and Grill #8
And worth the wait! After almost two years, Bill has finally assembled
some more highly commercial, audience tested, effects you are sure to
enjoy. And if you think they "read well," wait until you perform them.
As usual, you get the bits and pieces that you've come to expect from the
Grill-- anecdotes, jokes and general quirkiness that adds flavor. Some
highlights: A torn and restored cocktail napkin with a "flash"
restoration.
The "invisible deck" routine that Bill shares in every lecture and has
been promising to put in print for years-- This will rock you.
A mind boggling, mind reading, card effect that is so direct it wil scare
you. (My current opener!)
A One Coin Spellbound (you read that right) that needs no gimmicks, just a
coin. You'll carry this with you always.
And all this for $10. Whew.

Cody Fisher's Required Reading When I was recently in
Austin doing a lecture swing, I met a young fellow named Cody Fisher. If you
are a MUM subscriber then you are already aware of this guy. Sharp,
intelligent, engaging are just the first words I think of to describe him.
Then he begins to perform! His persona is delightful plus he has an instinct
for magic structure and commercial effects. He has produced a book called
Required Reading with 16 pet effects included. I love his table hopping
Triumph., an in the hands version of this classic. He has a variation on
Vernon's Twisting the Aces which is brilliant. His work on the Invisible
Deck went right into the stand up act... how about this, you have a deck
examined and shuffled by a spectator, put into a bag and then you have the
card named. Surprise, it is the only face down card in the shuffled
deck...This book is selling briskly for $25 but I can offer it to you for
$20.00
Dobson's Choice 2
The first volume of Dobson's Choice is sold out but while I was in Holland
this summer, I picked up a few of Volume 2. Any routine that has Wayne's
name associated with it is well worth a read. It has either been honed to
perfection over countless performances before real audiences or is a
cherished item that he would sooner have kept to himself but has, only
recently decided to share with the rest of us.
Those of you who were wise enough to purchase Wayne's Dobson's Choice book
will need no encouragement from me to add this sequel to your collection.
Like the first offering, here Wayne reveals thirteen more priceless routines
from his close-up and stand-up acts. I like them all but will definitely be
adding his 'Tossed Deck' to my repertoire when I tour again later this year.
It's brilliant and anyone (including me) can do it!
Wayne's unique sense of humor is evident on every page. There are so many
lines, gags and bits-of-business sprinkled about the book that even working
pros, who normally never add anything to their acts, will be able to steal
(having paid for the privilege... for a change) them and use them either
with Wayne's excellent routines or simply injected straight into their own.
From a Shuffled Deck...
Paul Cummins is probably another unfamiliar name for you. Paul used to be
featured at Magic Moments Restaurant in Sarasota, FL. It was during this
tenure that he fine-tuned his technical skill and combined those
considerable talents with the more important (to me) concern of entertaining
his audiences. Along with this came his understanding of how to make these
routines commercial and memorable. Included here are 26 card routines and
six coin routines. Please understand that this manuscript has no
illustrations and requires that the reader be familiar with standard card
and coin techniques. Some of these routines require above average skills but
there is enough material here to keep the close-up card enthusiast
intrigued. I recommend this book.
Haydenizms Some of you may have
seen Allan on the recent Travel Channel special about Street Magic. His off
hand and casual way of manipulating a deck of cards is totally deceiving. I
was reminded again of his genius. This book is a collection of some very
creative ideas from Allan, tracing his career from the Fork's in the 60's to
Nantucket Island in 1996. There is literally something here for everyone.
Starting with a paddle trick, he takes you on a journey through his
convoluted mind that touches on a couple of card things, a coin thing, even
a hilarious gozinta box routine with spongeballs that he used to close his
act at the Castle. There are four monte ideas including a souped up version
of Color Monte that will thrill you. His take on the old "Coin in the Ear"
bit is a stitch!
In Over Your Head by Steve Bedwell hilarious cut and restored
rope
Leading with your Head Gary Kurtz'
excellent manuscript entitled "Leading with your Head" is subtitled
"Psychological and Directional Keys to the Amplification of the Magic
Effect". It is full of PRACTICAL knowledge. This is of unbelievable worth to
the workers out there. If you are able to implement these ideas in your
performances, you will be blown away at how this works. As he writes in the
intro, once you get the "necessary evil" of having to fool people out of the
way, you'll be able to concentrate on more important aspects of our craft.
The mechanisms of perceptions follow fairly predictable patterns. This book
gives insights into those patterns and processes. This is along the lines of
WonderWords. "Wonder Words" is to language what "Leading with your Head" is
to physical actions. If you are serious about performing, this book can
shorten your learning curve significantly.
If you never perform for people, pass this by. But if you ever perform in
front of people, this book will be very gratifying.
Stack Attack Here is a
collection of stacked deck tricks that I just loved when I first saw it. It
starts out with a great little false shuffle that is real easy and
deceptive. What follows is a collection of stacked deck tricks complete with
patter. My favorite is a Love Story that begins down a risque road but ends
with the audience going "Awwwww". I loved the trick when I first read it and
the audience loved it the first time I performed it. Great value at $20
Studebaker - The Green Notes These manuscripts
are from Peter Studebaker, a worker from the Dallas area who has been an
active member of the underground for many years. Confidante to the likes of
Roger Klause, Pressley Guitar and Bill Goldman, he has finally developed a
long awaited lecture for magicians. These lecture notes are worth their
weight in gold. They each contain effects that Peter has been using in his
professional repertoire for years. The Green Notes contain a terrific comedy
item called Tie Foon, an effect that he has been using for ten years in
which it appears that you are unraveling a spectators tie. Lotto Cash is an
up-to-date version of FlashCash that changes lotto tickets into cold hard
cash. His work on Rollover Aces will delight the card trick guys and his
Wild Poker has killed them at the lectures. The impromptu bit with the pen
is something you can put right into your act. I consider this manuscript a
steal.
Studebaker - The Yellow Notes The Yellow Notes
contain Peter's work on the torn and restored cigarette paper, which he has
guarded for years. His Chicago Universal is a wonderful commercial piece
that has a place in every trade show performance. I rigged up his Rising
Deck from Card Case and got screams of delight the first time I tried it. I
love his work on Paul Harris' Cannibal Cards. This manuscript is also a
steal.
